Professor El-Sheikh Mahgoub

PROFESSOR El-SHEIKH MAHGOUB

Professor Mahgoub was born 1935, educated in the University of Khartoum and University of London. He graduated with degrees in Medicine, Microbiology and Medical Mycology. He taught medical, dental and nursing students in the universities of Khartoum, King Saud University and University of Science and Technology in Jordan.

Professor Mahgoub did Research in Medical Mycology for nearly 50 years mostly on Mycetoma and Paranasal Aspergillus Granuloma (PNAG).   He reported new agents, serodiagnosis and medical management of mycetoma that replaced surgical amputation in Sudan. His contribution to national, regional and international medical mycology conferences is great.

His research was appreciated by the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine to be awarded its Ademola Prize and the Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO) of the World Health Organization (WHO) to award him its Shousha Prize.  He was granted honorary lifelong membership of the British Society for Micopathology  (BSM) and the International Society for Human and Animal Mycology (ISHAM).
